Qualified college students are invited to apply to one of our four internships:
Civic Engagement Associate:
The Civic Engagement Associate will help gather government contact information for DIY Democracy application and oversee quality control for the information. Responsibilities include:
- Interacting with governments to find the best ways to get information to its proper place
- Researching government websites, in order to find contact information for specific departments
- Calling local government departments, in order to find contact information for specific departments
- Fact-checking existing contacts, in order to assure the quality of our application

Law and Policy Fellow:
The Law and Policy Fellow will be responsible for researching advanced legal and policy information. The Law and Policy fellow is indispensable in helping bring the most useful and important information to the public. Responsibilities include:
- Reading, synthesizing, and summarizing legal encyclopedia articles on various constitutional rights (i.e. how the rights are applied in practice)
- Researching municipal codes to find unique, interesting, or unusual laws (ex.: In Los Angeles, it's illegal to charge admission to a house party.)
- Distilling legalese into understandable soundbites (e.g. "A cop can search the trunk of your car without a warrant only when...")

User Interface Analyst:
The User Interface Analyst will help improve and develop the user interface and user experience for our innovative civic engagement technology. The user interface analyst will be charged with giving detailed feedback on improvements and suggestions to the design and layout of our technology. Responsibilities include:
- Bug testing for new versions of applications
- Providing detailed feedback on interface and user experience for our applications
- Gathering. recording, and aggregating user feedback from peers and other individuals in our target market
- Downloading and reviewing other applications to discover new ways of presenting information in a fun and effective manner

Marketing and Communications Assistant:
As the Marketing and Communications assistant, you will help spread the word about our exciting applications and projects to help create real change. Responsibilities include:
- Promoting our projects and applications on news, technology, and social media websites
- Seeking new strategic partnerships with active and allied organizations to create real change and increase the impact of our technology
- Suggesting new methods to increase the buzz and excitement regarding our application
- Helping promote the application on your specific campus

Internships for school credit, part-time internships, and ull-time paid internships are available for qualified applicants. Compensation ranges from $10-13/hr, depending on experience. Performance-based incentives are available as well for paid internships; housing stipends are available for unpaid internships.
